With the high cost of PSS for Taekwondo, its a massive investment for a club.
Kerpow Sports have developed PSS style corner judge controllers, that use the same logic as PSS systems.
The controllers work on the same consensus logic, where 2 out of 3 controllers are needed to register the same hit within 0.5 seconds (time can be adjusted to suit environment) to register a score. On a draw, it can still calculate the amount of Gamjeom’s, Turning/spinning kicks and higher value techniques.
Kerpow corner judge controllers have 5 buttons, not 3 like other systems, to score 1 point punch, 2 point body, 3 point head, 4 point spinning or turning kick to the body, 6 points spinning or turning kick to the head.
This allows corner judges to score all techniques easily.
To control the matches, rather than having to have a laptop, you can choose laptop or a tablet / ipad, as the software is browser based.
The match controller software can amend/override scores, add referee’s Gamjeom’s, enter names and country etc. Start and stop timer, select next match, next round etc, manually assign winner on a draw.
THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT OF A PSS SYSTEM. Its a system that clubs can use to give a true match feel for players with out spending £12K + on a true PSS system.
We have tested this system giving the controllers to kids aged as young as 10-12 and they learn very quickly. It is a great learning tool for all members and hopefully give the younger generation an incentive to take corner judge courses and referee in the future!
The buttons are very tactile, so removing the need to look down to press buttons. The buttons closest to the hand are 2 and 3 points, others are only a slight reach away.
Some people don’t like PSS scoring, so this is a great system if that is you! Back to basics and traditional corner judges.
What can the Kerpow Score system not do?
When working out rounds that are a draw, it can not do this:

Registered Hits: If all point values and penalties are identical, the winner is decided by the higher number of total sensor hits registered by the electronic protector scoring system (PSS), even if those impacts did not meet the strict threshold to score full points.”
Needs a stable WIFI connection, battery lasts approx 10 hours on a single charge, enough for a day.
